UCS is entrusted to facilitate and allocate a variety of funds to support community programs and initiatives that improve the well-being of Johnson County residents. Through a collaborative and data-informed process, UCS ensures that funding reaches the organizations and efforts best positioned to address pressing community needs—whether related to housing, health, substance use prevention or other human services. EMERGENCY FOOD & SHELTER PROGRAM GRANT

Funded by FEMA and administered locally, the EFSP grant helps meet urgent needs for food and shelter in Johnson County through a local board that sets priorities and allocates funds.

HUD CONTINUUM OF CARE GRANT

As the lead agency for Johnson County’s Continuum of Care on Homelessness, UCS facilitates local review of funding proposals that support housing and homelessness services.

HUMAN SERVICE FUND

Jointly funded by Johnson County and 14 cities, the HSF supports essential safety net services like shelter, food, healthcare and employment supports that help low-income residents build self-sufficiency.

SUBSTANCE USE CONTINUUM
OF CARE FUND

UCS supports the Drug and Alcoholism Council in distributing local Alcohol Tax and Opioid Settlement Funds to organizations providing prevention, treatment and recovery services.
