Trauma Informed Care Task Force Releases Project’s Final Report
United Community Services provides support for Johnson County’s Trauma Informed Care Task Force and in 2016 released “Becoming Trauma Informed: A collaborative approach to implementing trauma informed systems of care and correction in Johnson County, Kansas.” The report is a four year overview of seventeen local organizations and agencies’ work towards becoming more trauma informed in order to improve outcomes for their clients and staff. With funding from the Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City, Task Force members created a framework for learning about and implementing trauma-sensitive practices, dedicating a combined 200+ hours a month to making their workplaces, services and in turn their community more trauma informed. The Task Force continues to meet bi-monthly as a committee of Johnson County’s Community Violence Action Council (COMVAC). To learn more about the Task Force’s work, click here.
