UCS and United Way of Greater Kansas City will co-host a public policy forum, Tuesday, December 11. The featured presenter is Duane Goossen, M.P.A., Vice President for Fiscal and Health Policy, Kansas Health Institute. He oversees KHI’s research and analysis of state fiscal policy, health reform, and other health policy issues. Goossen is a former member of the Kansas House of Representatives (1983-1997), and served as state budget director for 12 years in the administrations of three governors.
He recently authored a fact sheet that documents the spending decisions that the governor and the Legislature made for fiscal year 2013. It also offers a look at the state’s revenues and expenses during the last decade, which included periods of economic recession and growth. At the public policy forum, attendees will learn how the state budget will affect health and human services.
The public policy forum is free of charge and will be December 11, 3-5 p.m., at Village Presbyterian Church.
